Trashton Porter - pseudonym

On December 1, 2006 I woke up at 4:30 am to get ready for work. The tv was on and I was getting my daily news  when my life was changed forever.

The newscaster spoke... " Ronald Dominique was arrested in Houma, La and charged with the abduction , torture & murder of at least 23 men". The newscaster went on to share the lurid details of the charges against the man with the same name as me. It turns out that Ronald Dominique is one of the most prolific serial murderers ever, in United States!  Can you imagine being named Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy or Charles Manson? Ronald Dominique is the worst! In 2006 The serial killer & I were the 2 out of the very few men in America with that name.

At first, I was freaked out but I went about my day like any other day. At about noon I was contacted by my agent who was in full panic mode. He told me that my gig was cancelled at a Tampa Bay, venue where he was working hard to get me booked. He explained to me that the club manager recognized the name and Googled it. Within 8 hours my profile & my musical accomplishments and my very existence was buried deep in the bowels of The Internet. Any search of my name only displayed the other Ronald Dominique (as it does now) It was as though my very existence was erased. My gigs toppled like dominoes. Everything I had strived  for musically my entire life was snuffed out permanently.

I was devastated & perplexed. What should or could I do to restore my musical career & my life? Long story short.. I took the pseudonym "Trashton Porter." It's been 20 years & though my legal name was not changed I have had a successful musical career as a BMI Songwriter, recording musician & producer.
