Local Journalism With a Purpose

Macon Moonline Investigates exists for one reason: to ask the questions that matter to the people who live here, follow the decisions being made at City Hall and throughout Macon County, examine how public money is being spent, and take a closer look at the projects and decisions that could affect this community for years, or even decades, to come.

We are independent and local. We are not beholden to a political party, government agency, special-interest group, advertiser, or public official. Our job is not to tell readers what to think. Our job is to gather the records, ask the questions, talk to the people involved, follow the evidence wherever it leads and report honestly what we find.

Good investigative journalism does not begin with a conclusion. It begins with a question.
Sometimes the answers confirm what government officials or other decision-makers have told the public. Sometimes they don't. Either way, the people who live here deserve access to the information necessary to make up their own minds.
Macon belongs to the people who live here. They deserve to know what is being done in their name.

We initially published this website in March of 2026 to list the city council & mayoral candidates that were running for office in the April 7th election. From day one we realized this website is the perfect platform to continue investigating and reporting on local issues that affect Maconites & all Missourians.

On September 21, 2026 we took Macon Mo Online, and formed "Macon Mo Online LLC" . We are now a registered LLC in the state of Missouri. This was necessary do to the rapid evolution of our website. We currently have over 60 blog posts and we are averaging over 10,000+ page views (in real time) in a 30 day period. Our blog section carries the name "Macon Moonline Investigates". We currently have about a dozen ongoing investigations that we are running as independent series.Â
Macon Mo Online LLC, is not a left wing or a right wing website offers no political favoritism for Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Independents, or any other political parties. We are here to report on activities that take place in the city & county of Macon, Mo. as well as surrounding counties & the state of Missouri when called for. Your suggestions for topics of discussion & investigation are welcomed.

As citizens of Macon, we are almost divided equally when it comes to local politics. This was proven during the most recent mayoral election that was only divided by 13 votes. This division is not a bad thing. In fact, it is an example of the purest form of democracy.
